It’s January, which means we once again prepare for Samsung to unveil all of its annual goodies at Galaxy Unpacked, the Samsung event that kickstarts the smartphone race each year.

As we mentioned, Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S25 series — the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra.
Beyond the hardware, updates to the Galaxy AI suite are also anticipated.
There’s also speculation that Samsung might reveal XR/VR glasses, potentially positioning them as a competitor to Apple’s Vision Pro.
Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra
While Samsung hasn’t revealed anything about the Galaxy S25 series yet, leaks and rumors have left nothing to the imagination. All three models are expected to have essentially the same design as last year.
However, the Ultra model might see some changes: a more palm-friendly, rounded shape, ditching the sharp, Note-esque look of the last few Ultra-branded devices, and possibly a slimmer (8.4mm) look.
We expect the Galaxy S25 and S25+ screen sizes to remain unchanged from last year at 6.2 and 6.7 inches and the Ultra to get an ever-so-slightly bigger display at 6.9 inches.
Samsung has confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy S flagships will run One UI 7, built on top of Android 15. The software is expected to feature heavy AI integrations, with more details likely to be revealed during the Galaxy Unpacked event.

The invitation for the Samsung event reads, “The Next Big Leap in Mobile AI Experiences,” and Samsung described these AI innovations as “premium Galaxy innovations that bring seamless convenience into every moment of your life.”
Elsewhere, Samsung also boasts: “A true AI companion is coming“.
While much of this may be marketing jargon, the Galaxy S25 models will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, a processor hailed for its AI prowess, so we do expect some neat features.
Qualcomm says the chip comes with an AI engine that can support a personalized, on-board generative AI assistant that sees what you see and interacts with objects through the camera or microphone.
It also supports features like AI-driven photo editing via AI relighting, a Video Magic Eraser, and an AI pet photo-taking feature demoed by Qualcomm in October.
We expect Samsung to integrate some of these features into the upcoming phones. The company might also team up with Google to bring the latter’s set of AI innovations to Galaxy phones.
Galaxy Ring 2, Samsung XR & AR glasses
Samsung introduced its first smart ring, the Galaxy Ring, at the Unpacked event for the Galaxy S24 family in January 2024. It was shown off again at MWC in February and launched in July.
If Samsung plans a follow-up, Unpacked 2025 seems like the perfect opportunity.
So we might see the Galaxy Ring 2 and its new smart glasses at the event. However, even so, we expect these to be previews and neither product will hit the market immediately.
Back in December, Samsung gave us a look at “Project Moohan,” its extended reality headset, alongside Google’s unveiling of Android XR. But so far, the company hasn’t shown off any smart glasses.
For fans of the Samsung Fold series, these are usually unveiled in the second half of the year.
