OpenAI has unveiled the first music video entirely created by its text-to-video AI model, Sora.?

The music video, set to the song “Worldweight” by creative artist August Kamp, is a captivating blend of music and visuals.

The two-and-a-half-minute video takes viewers on a journey through surreal landscapes. The ethereal music and dreamlike visuals paint a world where humans, animals, and extraterrestrial beings can share space.

Available on OpenAI’s YouTube channel, the video embodies Kamp’s creative vision for the song. Sora translated Kamp’s ideas into captivating visuals, including rainy environments, birds flying through thick fogs, crystal objects, a cloudy beach, and a forest shrine.

Kamp, who was granted early access to Sora, is enthusiastic about the tool’s ability to bypass traditional production limitations.

“This tool lets me take these pictures that I’ve held onto for two years,” August Kamp wrote on her YouTube page.

Sora, first previewed in February 2024 as an AI video generator, can produce multi-shot clips of a minute or longer from nothing more than a text prompt.

When Will Sora Be Released?

While no public release date has been announced yet, OpenAI’s CTO, Mira Murati, has hinted at a potential release this year. The company’s CEO, Sam Altman, has also indicated that it plans to roll out several new models this year, although he did not specifically mention Sora.

In the meantime, other companies such as Runway, Pika Labs, and Viggle are making strides in the same field, enhancing their models to make them more user-friendly and efficient. Midjourney, an AI image generation platform, is also reportedly developing its text-to-video AI model, which could be launched this year.

With the gradual release of Sora to the public, which is expected before the end of the year, we are on the brink of a new era in video content creation.
