Early gameplay footage from Sega’s upcoming reboots of Crazy Taxi and Shinobi has surfaced online, offering a peek into the early stages of development for these long-awaited titles.

The footage was shared on Saturday by a well-known leaker, Ryan from the Bronx, formerly known as Midori.

The Crazy Taxi reboot footage, reportedly recorded in 2022, shows a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple vehicles racing through a colorful cityscape reminiscent of the original game’s chaotic passenger delivery gameplay.

Sega’s official documentation describes the game as featuring “innovative and fresh style driving action,” promising a mix of nature and urban environments. The game is expected to be a massively multiplayer experience, though it appears to still be several years away from release, with 2027 being a potential target date.

In addition to Crazy Taxi, the leaked footage includes an early look at the upcoming Shinobi reboot. This footage showcases the opening cinematic and brief gameplay segments, highlighting a side-scrolling format with fast-paced combat and traversal, staying true to the series’ roots.

Lizardcube, the studio behind Streets of Rage 4, is developing the game. It is set to feature a protagonist wielding the legendary sword Oborozuki and tasked with battling monsters and ninjas.

Sega announced plans last year to revitalize several classic IPs, including Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage, alongside Crazy Taxi and Shinobi.

In other gaming news, Supermassive Games and Behaviour Interactive have recently released a demo for the Dead by Daylight single-player spinoff, The Casting of Frank Stone.
