Microsoft has announced its Copilot+ PCs at the launch event of its annual Build conference.
Many experts anticipated Microsoft to integrate its AI-powered tool Copilot into its operation system fully.
In a strategic move to position Windows PCs at the forefront of the AI revolution, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has announced the launch of a new category of AI-ready computers: Copilot+ PCs.
“Copilot is empowering every person and every organization on the planet to be more productive, more creative,” Nadella stated, emphasizing the transformative potential of the new technology.

10 trillion operations per second
Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s Executive Vice President and Consumer Chief Marketing Officer, took the stage to highlight the advancements in these new devices. He revealed that current Windows AI PCs can achieve 10 trillion operations per second (TOPS). He predicted that over 50 million AI PCs would be sold within the next year.
With Copilot+, Microsoft has completely reimagined the PC from the inside out.
Mehdi noted, “Even with all this power, these new PCs are unbelievably thin, light, and beautiful.”
Faster than MacBook Air M3
Copilot+ PCs are designed to deliver over 40 TOPS. Microsoft has also rearchitected Windows 11 to optimize both performance and battery life, making these the fastest PCs ever.
According to Mehdi, these new models are 58% faster than the MacBook Air M3, although he did not compare them to the MacBook Pro chips.
The basic specifications for Copilot+ PCs include 16GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of reaching over 40 TOPS of performance, ensuring top-tier efficiency and power.
Windows and Copilot
The new Copilot app can function as a standalone window, a sidebar, or a fullscreen application. It allows users to utilize two windows to drag and drop elements directly into Copilot. Additionally, Copilot will soon be integrated into Windows settings, enabling users to locate specific options and perform tasks such as removing image backgrounds. On the Windows desktop, Copilot can also respond to questions from notifications.
Looking ahead, Mehdi revealed that Microsoft will integrate the latest technology from OpenAI, with GPT-4o coming soon, further enhancing the capabilities of Copilot+ PCs.

With these advancements, Microsoft aims to significantly impact the AI era, offering users unprecedented speed, efficiency, and creative potential with their new Copilot+ PCs.
AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm will help enhance the new AI-ready computers. Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger announced a new batch of processors designed for Copilot+ PCs.
Qualcomm’s Cristiano Amon, sporting a Copilot+ PC shirt, highlighted the capabilities of Snapdragon Windows PCs. Meanwhile, AMD’s Lisa Su expressed her excitement for the collaboration.
