The Little Nightmares 3 release date may be sometime next year, but there’s a lot worth covering about this highly anticipated horror follow-up. The original game made waves for its distinctive style, and now this third entry looks to be bigger and scarier than ever.
Besides the lone sequel in 2019, no other game puts players in that helpless position of a small child in a dangerous world filled with giants just trying to survive.
Bandai Namco’s Little Nightmares 3 is coming soon, but there are some big questions that need to be answered. The lore of these games is very cryptic, but we’re here to spell out all the details you need to know about Little Nightmares 3.
If you’re a fan of horror games, it’s not the big AAA games that will chill you to your core. No, indie studios have become the go-to source for the most bizarre and frightening games on the market.
What is Little Nightmares 3?
Latest Indie Horror Hit
Little Nightmares 3 is the third game in the Little Nightmares series, which began in 2017. Each game is a 2.5D horror/puzzle game where you navigate various environments as a miniature-sized character.
Little Nightmares games are a mix of lore, puzzles, and sneaking past various giant pursuers with no way to fight back.
Little Nightmares 3 will feature two brand new characters to the series called Low and Alone. Each one has its own abilities and weapon, and you will be able to pick whichever one you want to control. Low will have a bow and arrow, while Alone comes with a wrench.
In a first for the series, Little Nightmares 3 will feature online co-op. If you would rather play alone, an AI will control whichever character you decide not to play.
Low and Alone will be working together to escape a place known as the Spiral and the creepy Monster Baby, who Bandai Namco’s Community Specialist Maya Ziani describes as:
“A new resident with swivelling doll-like eyes who is, due to her bulk, an agent of sheer destructive force. She may not seem cruel or malevolent at first sight, but her size, clumsiness, and curiosity might become dangerous for our dear visitors.”
Of course, the Monster Baby is just one of many horrors lurking in the shadows of Little Nightmares 3.
Unlike the first two games, Little Nightmares 3 is being developed by Supermassive Games and not the original developer Tarsier Studios.
When is Little Nightmares 3 Coming Out?
Expected Release Window: 2025
The Little Nightmares 3 release date has not been set. All we know is that it is scheduled to come out sometime in 2025.
It was originally scheduled for 2024; however, the official X account posted in May that the team would need more time to reach the level of quality it is striving for.
Please do bear with us, little ones, for we need a little extra time to prepare your visit.
Rest assured, we promise to show you a proper welcome. #LittleNightmares III pic.twitter.com/fqxsOPzkFD

Little Nightmares 3 Trailers
The initial trailer for Little Nightmares 3 debuted at Gamescom in 2023. In it, the two new lead characters platform and sneak through a variety of new environments.
It wouldn’t be a Little Nightmares 3 trailer without some horrific monsters, too.
While it isn’t technically a trailer, Bandai Namco did release a full 18-minute gameplay walkthrough for The Necropolis in Little Nightmares 3 if you want to see some of the game’s early parts in action.
More recently, at Gamescom 2024, we received the Little Nightmares 3 Friendship Trailer, which went more in-depth about the gameplay we can expect in the final product. Over the course of two minutes, we see how the two characters need to interact with each other to solve puzzles and hide from big, bad threats hiding around every corner. This is a first for the series, as we’ll get into further down the page.
Is Little Nightmares 3 Multiplayer?
Online Co-op
Yes, for the first time ever, Little Nightmares 3 will feature co-op multiplayer. Little Nightmares 2 also featured two main characters, but there was never an option for a second person to control the other character.
Note that multiplayer in Little Nightmares 3 will only be available through online co-op, not local couch co-op.
Why Fans Are Excited
The Little Nightmares games have become cult hits thanks to their dark, almost dreamlike art styles and deep lore.
These games don’t spell out the messages they intend for you to take away from them, leaving plenty of room for interpretation and discussion.
While completing the puzzles and hazards only takes a couple of hours, the impression it leaves on you and the details you can reflect on have grown a loyal fanbase itching for more.
Little Nightmares 3 Price
Expected: $30
No price is listed for Bandai Namco’s Little Nightmares 3 on any platform yet. If we look at the past games, they have always been budget titles. The first game cost $20 while the second went for $30.
We expect Little Nightmares 3 to cost around $30, but it is possible that it will go up to around $40.
The Bottom Line
Fans of things that go bump in the night have a lot to look forward to when Little Nightmares 3 comes out. Full of monsters, puzzles, and striking imagery, there’s a lot to sink your teeth into.
Little Nightmares 3’s characters are going to take us on a journey, although we have no idea yet where or how this game fits into the timeline established with the first two games.
Odds are that the community will need to work together to piece it together after the game is released.
