EA Sports has unveiled FC 25, a major update to its soccer franchise that brings in more AI, a new game mode, and the long-awaited inclusion of women’s leagues in Career Mode.
The move puts women’s soccer (aka football) on par when the men’s sport in all game modes for the first time. You no longer have to accept limited options just because you want to recreate a defining moment for the US national women’s team, for instance.
Regardless of which leagues you like, EA is claiming more realistic player behavior. A new AI model based on real data helps shape player and team tactics, including up-to-date positioning that often reflects a real team’s style. FC IQ, meanwhile, revamps strategic control.
Fans of multiplayer get a new Rush game mode that has teams of five (up to four humans plus an AI goalkeeper) face each other in Kick-Off, Clubs, and Ultimate Team. You can also play by yourself in Manager Career to develop a youth team.
In the regular Career, there are now Live Start Points that can have you take over teams based on real-world events, such as new managers or player transfers.
FC 25 will be available on September 27th on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Switch. Ultimate Edition buyers get access on September 20th. As with earlier?FC and?FIFA titles, you’ll need a current-gen console or PC to see the most realistic player motion technology.
There are few major alternatives to EA’s soccer games, most notably Konami’s?eFootball series. However, it’s evident EA is still determined to keep sales going by expanding the audience and giving gamers a stronger incentive to upgrade from earlier versions.
