The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster release date is fast approaching, and Capcom’s revival of the series looks to be a promising update so far.
2006’s Dead Rising was arguably the first game that made the Xbox 360 a must-have console, and following a number of sequels of varying quality, Capcom is returning to the game that kicked off it all.
Dead Rising has you fight to survive in a zombie-infested shopping mall over the course of three in-game days. You play as photojournalist Frank West who – as well as surviving – seeks to uncover a massive government conspiracy, while helping to rescue the remaining survivors.

What is the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster?
Despite the word Remaster in the title, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a remake of the original 2006 title Dead Rising. Capcom has updated almost everything else about the game including updates to visuals, gameplay, cutscenes, and voice acting.
Unlike the Resident Evil remakes which are full overhauls using the original games as a base, the main storyline and game design of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will remain the same as it was back in 2006, with any gameplay changes being quality of life improvements to fix some fan complaints with the original title.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Release Date
September 19, 2024
The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster release date is set for September 19, 2024 worldwide via a digital release on PC and consoles. With a regular and Digital Deluxe edition of the game available at launch.
The game will be getting a physical release, however, you’ll need to wait until November 2024 for it. Capcom hasn’t confirmed a specific date in November.
September 19 is an interesting date for the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster to launch as that’s exactly when the events of the story take place back in 2006; an extra easter egg for eagle-eyed fans.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Trailer
Capcom first announced Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster with a short trailer posted to Twitter out of the blue that cut off before diving deep into the game, or even showing gameplay.
Thankfully it wouldn’t be long before we saw more as less than a week later Capcom released a full version of the trailer during a Capcom Next livestream.
This was followed up with a deep-dive with staff members on the project that revealed some more details of the development.
The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster trailer and deep dive show off everything new about this version of the game. The most immediately striking change is – of course – the updated visuals. The game runs at 4K/60fps and features updated character models and areas, having it look in-line with a game released in 2024.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Platforms
PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. While the original Dead Rising was an Xbox exclusive, the Deluxe Remaster is launching on all current-gen platforms simultaneously. On PC, the game will be available on Steam. As of right now, the game isn’t available to pre-order on Epic Games or the PC’s Xbox Store, meaning it’s likely a Steam exclusive for now.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster doesn’t have a confirmed Steam Deck compatibility rating on its Steam Store Page, however, previous RE Engine games like Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Village, and Street Fighter 6 are all Verified on the platform. So, in theory, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster should work on Steam Deck.
While other recent Capcom titles like Exoprimal and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess have been on Xbox Game Pass at launch, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster won’t be available on Xbox Game Pass.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster New Features
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will remain the same game at its core, however the team has introduced new quality of life changes. Updates include the ability to auto-save, updated survivor AI, and the ability to fast forward the in-game timer.
While Frank’s moveset remains the same, he has gained new tricks like the ability to aim a gun and fire while moving.
Players will also be able to change the background music in the mall, with tunes available in the game’s pre-order bonus and Digital Deluxe edition.

$49.99 for Standard Edition
$59.99 for Digital Deluxe Edition
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster includes both a standard and Digital Deluxe edition. The initial Dead rising deluxe remaster price is set at $49.99, below industry-standard for fully-fledged remakes such as Resident Evil 4 and Dead Space from last year.

Meanwhile, for $10 more, the Digital Deluxe variant features 17 skins and 17 music tracks all based on Capcom’s history. While the full list isn’t available yet, the silhouettes shown include the likes of Resident Evil’s Tyrant and Nemesis, as well as Mega Man’s Tron Bonne and presumably the included music tracks will be from their respective games. There’s a wealth of fan service to expect from the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster costumes available.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Pre-Order
The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster pre-order bonus comes with three costumes, The Willamette Parkview Mall Bee mascot, Dead Rising 2’s Chuck Greene, and a skin that has Frank West’s model from the 2006 original, with two arranged versions of Dead Rising music, and a tune from Dead Rising 2.
The Bottom Line
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster looks to be a fantastic revision of the original game. Capcom looks to have made it more approachable, without losing any of what made it such a fantastic experience back in the day. And if pulled off correctly could land it among the likes of 2023’s Metroid Prime Remastered and the Dead Space remake.
If you bounced off the original version of Dead Rising all those years ago then this may be the best time to give it another go, although it’s unlikely to win over anyone who loathed it due to how faithful it is to the original game.
