Anthropic has introduced Claude Enterprise, a new offering built specifically for business customers as it seeks to capture a share of the lucrative AI market.?

On Wednesday, Anthropic, an Amazon-backed AI startup founded by former OpenAI research executives, unveiled Claude Enterprise, a new enterprise-grade version of its Claude 3 large language model family.

This launch aims to help Anthropic scale within companies and position itself as a major competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.

The Claude Enterprise plan features improved security controls and GitHub integrations with enterprise tools, catering to tech leaders keen on leveraging AI while safeguarding corporate data.

In an exclusive interview with CNBC, Scott White, a product manager at Anthropic, revealed that early adopters of Claude Enterprise include notable firms such as GitLab, Midjourney, Menlo Ventures, North Highland Consulting, and Sourcegraph.

GitLab has used the platform to automate content creation and manage requests for proposals more efficiently.

Claude Enterprise offers clients the ability to upload documents with a larger context window, equivalent to 100 30-minute sales conversations, 100,000 lines of code, or 15 full financial reports. The plan also features “activity feeds” to help super-users demonstrate AI usage to newcomers.

Pricing for the service will vary based on factors such as scale, number of users, query volume, and feature requirements. Additionally, Claude Enterprise promises company privacy with role-based access, project-based invitations, and forthcoming audit logs.

According to recent Grand View Research data, the global chatbot market, valued at approximately $5.13 billion in 2022, is poised for hot-red growth, thus projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 23.3% from 2023 to 2030.

This reflects a rising acceptance of AI-driven business and customer service solutions, which are increasingly recognized for reducing operating costs and improving operational efficiency.

UK Regulator’s Decision Pending on Amazon-Anthropic Partnership

Amazon’s involvement in Anthropic’s strategy, particularly through its AI marketplace Bedrock, provides users with added security when using Claude. With Amazon’s $4 billion investment on March 27, 2024, which granted it a minority ownership stake in Anthropic, the partnership is intended to improve the platform’s appeal.

However, the U.K. Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is scrutinizing the deal.

On August 8, 2024, the CMA initiated a formal investigation into the partnership between Amazon and Anthropic, marking the latest in a series of probes into AI-related deals.

This investigation follows a public call for comments issued in April, during which the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) collected what it deems “sufficient” evidence.

The CMA is set to evaluate whether the partnership constitutes a relevant merger situation under U.K. law and, if so, to assess its impact on market competition. A decision on whether to proceed with a Phase 2 investigation is anticipated by October 4.
