In this Vantage Markets review, we cover everything there is to know surrounding regulation, trading tools, spreads, commissions, user-friendliness, and more.
What Assets Does Vantage Markets Support?
Supported Assets:
All of the assets listed on Vantage Markets are traded as contracts-for-differences (CFDs). This enables traders to add leverage to their positions. Supported asset classes include forex, stocks, commodities, and cryptocurrencies.
In this section of our Vantage Markets review, we discuss what assets are supported.
Forex
Starting with forex, Vantage Markets supports over 40 currency pairs. This includes all majors and minors and a selection of exotics. The latter covers the South Korean won, Mexican peso, Indian rupee, and Indonesian rupiah.
Most forex pairs can be traded during standard market hours, between Monday and Friday. Like all supported assets, fees and spreads will vary depending on the account type. For example, minimum spreads on EUR/USD start at 0.0 pips on the Pro ECN, Raw ECN, and Cent accounts.
Forex commissions on these accounts start from $1.50, $3, and $0, respectively. Alternatively, the STP account offers 0% commissions, but forex spreads start from 1 pip.
Our Vantage Markets review found that the platform has access to deep liquidity pools. This ensures that spreads remain competitive throughout the day. That said, during times of increased volatility, spreads can fluctuate more rapidly.
Vantage Markets is also one of the best forex brokers for trading with high leverage. Eligible clients can trade major pairs with leverage of up to 1:1000 – which is huge.
Stocks
Vantage Markets is also suitable for traders that want to speculate on stocks. As all stocks are traded as CFDs, traders can go long or short with ease.
Vantage Markets supports hundreds of stocks from the NYSE and NASDAQ. This includes large caps like Tesla, Coca-Cola, and Apple. There are no trading commissions to pay when trading US-listed stocks. Vantage Markets also lists stocks from the UK and European markets.
This includes the likes of BNP Paribas, GlaxoSmithKline, and Heineken. Commissions on UK and European stocks start from €10 per trade. This is considered expensive when compared to other platforms. For example, some of the best stock brokers – including eToro, offer 0% commission stock trading on both US and international markets.
Nonetheless, Vantage Markets also lists companies from the Australian Securities Exchange, including National Australia Bank and Telstra. Commissions on Australian stocks start from $5 per trade.
All supported stocks can be traded with leverage of up to 1:20. This means for every $200 traded, an account balance of just $10 is needed. However, do note that clients from some regions will be capped to leverage of 1:5 on stocks. Notably, this includes the UK, Australia, and the European Union.
Bonds
Our Vantage Markets review also found that the platform supports bonds. Once again, this market is represented by CFDs, so traders can go long or short.
Leverage of up to 1:100 is available, and bonds from the US and European markets are supported. There are no commissions to pay when trading bonds on Vantage Markets. Moreover, the minimum trade size of one contract.
ETFs
Vantage Markets also lists a broad range of ETFs. This includes ETFs that track baskets of stocks, commodities, and index funds. One of the most traded ETFs is the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Index Fund. This offers exposure to a portfolio of assets from emerging countries in Asia and South America.
Another highly traded market is the Vanguard Total International Bond ETF. This ETF offers exposure to almost 7,000 individual bonds from Japan, France, Germany, Canada, Australia, and more.
Most ETFs on Vantage Markets can be traded with leverage of up to 1:33. There is a minimum trade size of one ETF share and no commissions to pay. Spreads will vary depending on the market. For example, the iShares Core U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF (AGG) comes with a spread of $0.011. This is based on an AGG share price of over $98, so is very competitive.
Indices
Vantage Markets also allows traders to speculate on 15 indices. In the US, this includes the Dow Jones, S&P 500, Russell 200, and NASDAQ 100. European indices include the FTSE 100, France 40, and Dax 40.
In the Asian markets, Vantage Markets supports indices in Hong Kong, India, China, and Japan. Those with a higher appetite for risk will be pleased to know that Vantage Markets offers leverage of up to 1:1000 on indices.
In terms of fees, indices can be traded on a spread-only basis. Spreads on the S&P 500 average 1.04 points. This is minute, considering that currently, the S&p 500 is trading above 4,400 points.
Cryptocurrencies
Vantage Markets is also one of the best day trading platforms for cryptocurrencies. It supports dozens of markets, including some of the best cryptocurrencies to buy.
- For example, crypto-to-fiat pairs include BTC/USD, XRP/USD, LTC/USD, and ETH/USD.
- Crypto-cross pairs include ETH/BCH, ETH/LTC, and BTC/ETH.
Leverage on cryptocurrencies is limited at 1:2. There are no trading commissions to pay, but the spread will need to be covered. The most traded cryptocurrency pair – BTC/USD, comes with an average spread of just $12.
It is important to remember that trading cryptocurrencies on Vantage Markets do not represent ownership. As such, the cryptocurrencies cannot be withdrawn.
Those looking for the best crypto exchanges might consider eToro, which supports 90+ pairs at a minimum of $10 per trade.
Commodities
Vantage Markets also supports a wide range of commodities. This is split into three divisions – precious metals, soft commodities, and energies. Precious metals markets include gold, silver, and copper. These commodities can be traded against the US dollar, Australian dollar, and euro.
Soft commodities markets include US cocoa, cotton, orange juice, soybean, sugar, and wheat. The energies division is also extensive at Vantage Markets. For example, traders can speculate on natural gas, gasoline, and both crude and WTI oil.
All commodities on Vantage Markets can be traded on a spread-only basis. Leverage of up to 1:1000 is offered on gold, and silver is capped at 1:100. Soft commodities come with lower limits at 1:40. Crude and WTI oil, however, can be traded at up to 1:1000.
What Fees Does Vantage Markets Charge?
Overview of Vantage Markets Fees
Our Vantage Markets review found that the platform offers very competitive fees. That said, fees and spreads will vary widely depending on the account type and asset.
In this section of our Vantage Markets review, we explore what trading and non-trading fees apply.
Trading Fees
There is a uniform commission and spread structure across all supported markets other than forex. This is because forex trading fees depend on the chosen account type.
Forex
There are four primary account types to choose from, each with a different fee for forex trading.
First, the Cent account offers spreads from 0.0 pips and commissions of between $0 and $3. The commission varies depending on the pair being traded.
The STP account is the only commission-free option. This comes with a minimum spread of 1 pip on EUR/USD and more on other pairs. This account type will suit casual traders.
The Raw ECN account offers institutional-grade spreads, starting from 0.0 pips. Commissions amount to $3 per traded lot.
Finally, there is the Pro ECN account. This also offers spreads from 0.0 pips, but the commission is reduced to $1.50 per traded lot. That said, the Pro ECN account requires a minimum deposit of at least $10,000. The other three accounts come with a minimum deposit of $50.

Other Asset Classes
When trading non-forex assets, fees remain the same across all supported account types.
Here’s a recap of what to expect:
- US-listed stocks can be traded at 0% commission. UK and European stocks cost €10 per trade. While Australian stocks cost $5 per trade.
- This is considered expensive, especially for those trading small amounts.
- For example, suppose a Vantage Markets user trades $100 worth of European-listed stocks. By paying a commission of $10, this amounts to 10%.
Bonds, ETFs, indices, cryptocurrencies, and commodities can be traded on a spread-only basis. To offer some insight into average spreads, the S&P 500 can be traded from 1.04 points. Bitcoin can be traded against the US dollar at a spread of $12.
Overall, we found that commissions and spreads are competitive at Vantage Markets. However, users will need to check real-time rates before placing an order. This is because spreads can change rapidly depending on how volatile the markets are.

Overnight Finance (Swap Fees)
Swap fees will be payable on all positions kept open overnight. This is a form of interest that is paid when trading leveraged CFDs.
Specific swap fees will vary depending on:
- The asset
- How much leverage is being used
- The total position size
That said, our Vantage Markets review also found that the platform offers swap-free accounts. These are aimed at traders that cannot pay interest for religious reasons. Swap-free accounts are also suitable for traders that keep positions open for longer periods.
Do note that while swap-free accounts do not attract overnight financing – wider spreads will be charged.

Non-Trading Fees
Now let’s explore what non-trading fees apply at Vantage Markets.

Apart from China Union Pay (1.3% to 2.5%), all supported payment types come with fee-free deposits.
However, our Vantage Markets review found that some withdrawal methods come with a fee. For example, Bank wires cost $20 per withdrawal, while Neteller transactions cost 2%.
Moreover, Skrill withdrawals are charged 1%. That said, withdrawals made with a debit/credit card are processed fee-free.
Inactivity
Unlike many CFD trading platforms, Vantage Markets does not implement inactivity fees.

What Trading Platforms Does Vantage Markets Support?
Vantage Markets does not have its own desktop trading suite. Instead, clients can trade via MT4 or MT5. These are popular third-party platforms that support multiple devices. This includes desktop software for Windows and Mac. Both MT4 and MT5 can also be accessed via standard web browsers.
For those unaware of these platforms, they are used by hundreds of online brokers. MT4 and MT5 come packed with advanced features, including customized charts, bespoke order types, and technical indicators. What’s more, users can deploy automated trading robots via MT4 and MT5.
In addition to MT4 and MT5, Vantage Markets also supports ProTrader. This is backed by TradingView, so also comes packed with analysis tools and features. This includes over 50 technical indicators, chart drawing tools, and up to eight timeframes.
Across all three supported platforms, Vantage Markets offers a free demo account. It takes just 30 seconds to open and comes with $100,000 in virtual trading funds. This allows users to test-drive each platform without risking any money. Although the demo platform expires after 30 days, unlimited is available after upgrading to a live account.
Vantage Markets Usability
Vantage Markets offers a seamless account opening experience across both desktops and mobiles. But first, users will need to spend some time deciding which account to open. This can be confusing for beginners, considering the sheer number of accounts and pricing structures to choose from.
Nonetheless, once the account has been opened, deposits are fast and hassle-free. Then it’s just a case of choosing a trading platform, from MT4, MT5, and ProTrader. The reality is that all three of these platforms are aimed at intermediate to advanced traders.
This is because they have a strong focus on the technicals, especially chart analysis and economic indicators. Beginners will likely find this intimidating. That said, there is no harm in starting off with the demo account. As noted above, this comes with paper funds, so users can get a feel for Vantage Markets before risking any money.
Vantage Markets Analysis Features
The types of analysis features supported by Vantage Markets are dependent on the chosen trading platform.
Nonetheless, MT4, MT5, and ProTrader all cover the following:
- Custom Charts: Traders can customize their charting screen. For instance, having multiple charts side-by-side or changing their color and appearance.
- Indicators: Vantage Markets users will also have access to dozens of technical and economic indicators. This includes the RSI, MACD, and moving averages.
- Custom Orders: All supported platforms allow Vantage Markets users to create bespoke order types. This includes limit, stop-loss, and take-profit orders.
In addition to third-party tools, the Vantage Markets website offers financial news and insights. This includes expert analysis of forex trends, stock prices, economic indicators, and more.

Although Vantage Markets does not offer its own native desktop suite – it does support an app for iOS and Android. This allows traders to speculate on CFDs without using MT4, MT5, or ProTrader.
We found that the Vantage Markets app comes with a more user-friendly interface. Finding markets, analyzing prices, and placing orders is seamless. The app comes with full functionality, including payments. Moreover, the Vantage Markets app has excellent reviews online. For example, Vantage Markets is rated 4.9/5 on the App Store. On Google Play, the app has a slightly lower rating of 4.3/5.

Demo Contest
Although the Vantage Markets demo account does not allow traders to make real profits, money can be made from the Demo Contest promotion.
There are four prizes up for grabs, ranging from $100 (4th) to $2,000 (1st). Prizes are awarded based on the percentage gain made via the demo account.
Vantage Rewards
Vantage Rewards is a loyalty program available to all registered users. It awards traders with points for each position entered.
Accumulated points can be traded for various prizes. This includes cash, deposit rebates, profit boosters, and a spin on the Wheel of Fortune.
Does Vantage Markets Offer a Demo Account?
The Vantage Markets demo account allows users to trade assets without depositing or risking any money. This will appeal to first-time traders or those looking to take Vantage Markets for a test drive.
The demo account also enables users to get to grips with its supported trading platforms – MT4, MT5, and ProTrader. Demo accounts take just seconds to open and do not require any payment details or verification documents.
These are only required when upgrading to a real-money account. The demo account comes with $100,000 in virtual funds. After 30 days, the demo account will expire. However, after upgrading to a full account, the demo account can be used without any restrictions.

Vantage Markets Regulation and Client Safety
Is Vantage Markets Safe?
Vantage Markets is an established CFD broker with licensing in various countries. This includes Australia, the UK, South Africa, and Vanuatu.
Vantage Markets was founded in 2009 and is headquartered in Australia. It also has offices in 30 other countries to serve its global audience.
Vantage Markets is authorized and regulated by multiple financial bodies, including the:
- Australian Securities & Investments Commission
- Financial Conduct Authority (UK)
- Financial Sector Conduct Authority (South Africa)
- Vanuatu Financial Services Commission
This strong commitment to regulation highlights that Vantage Markets is a legitimate trading platform. It keeps all client capital in segregated bank accounts in Australia. Vantage Markets does not state the name of the bank but that it has a AA rating.
While traders in the UK, Australia, and South Africa will be protected by their own respective bodies, this isn’t the case for other nationalities.
For example, traders in the Asia-Pacific region fall under the remit of the Australian Securities & Investments Commission. This means that traders will be limited in how much leverage they can obtain. This stands at up to 1:30 on major forex pairs and less on other markets.
Those falling under the scope of the Vanuatu Financial Services Commission will be able to get the highest levels of leverage. This is because regulation in Vanuatu is a lot looser when compared to Australia and the UK.
Irrespective of where the trader is from, all Vantage Market clients must go through a traditional KYC process. This requires the client’s personal information and verification documents – including a government-issued ID.
Which Countries Does Vantage Markets Accept?
Vantage Markets accepts clients from most countries, with a few exceptions.
Those from the following country cannot use Vantage Markets:
- Canada
- China
- Romania
- Singapore
- United States
In addition, jurisdictions on the FATF and EU/UN sanctions lists are prohibited from joining Vantage Markets.

Step 2: Choose Account Type
The next step is to choose a suitable account type. We discussed the various account types earlier in this Vantage Markets review.
Options include a Cent, STP, Raw ECN, Pro ECN, and Swap-Free account. Traders should choose the most suitable account type for their goals and budget.
Step 3: Complete the KYC Process
After registering an account, the next step is to complete the KYC process.
In most cases, Vantage Markets only requires a government-issued ID. This can be a passport or driver’s license. The uploaded ID must contain the user’s date of birth or residential address.
Step 4: Deposit Funds
Now it’s time to make a deposit. Other than the Pro ECN account ($10,000), the minimum deposit is $50.
Supported payment types include debit/credit cards, local bank transfers, and selected e-wallets.
Step 5: Choose a Trading Platform
Now that the account has been funded, the next step is to choose a suitable trading platform.
This is a choice between:
- MT4
- MT5
- ProTrader
- Vantage Markets App
Traders should also select their preferred device. For example, MT4 and MT5 are available as desktop software, mobile apps, and web browsers.
Once a trading platform and device type have been chosen, log in with the Vantage Markets username and password.
Step 6: Search for a Trading Market
Vantage Markets supports a huge range of markets across many different asset types. All supported trading platforms offer a search box.
Type in the name of the market to go straight to its trading page. Alternatively, use the filter buttons to find a suitable market. In our example, we are using MT4 and looking to trade silver.
Step 7: Place a Trading Order
Now that a market has been selected, a trading order needs to be filled out.
First, choose from a market or limit order.
- A market order executes the trader instantly at the next best available price
- A limit order allows traders to set their entry price. The trade will only be executed if the entry price is triggered.
Additionally, traders can choose their leverage limit and stop-loss and take-profit order prices. These orders are optional. Then, type in the amount of money to risk.
Finally, click on the ‘Buy’ or ‘Sell’ button. This determines whether the trader believes the price will rise or fall, respectively.
The Verdict
In summary, Vantage Markets is a reputable CFD trading platform offering a broad range of assets. It offers leverage of up to 1:1000, and traders can choose from commission-free or low-spread accounts.
While Vantage Markets will appeal to advanced traders, beginners might prefer a more user-friendly platform like eToro. Not only in terms of simplified charts and orders but lower account minimums.
